HUMBLE BEGINNINGS

Aleson Shipping Lines, Inc., a Zamboanga-based company, was founded on October 1, 1976. The company’s very first vessel, MV Estrella del Mar
served the public in transporting passengers and cargoes, mainly rice,
to the neighboring islands. In 1980, the company ventured the cargo
business and acquired its first cargo vessel, thus the debut of MV Aleson.

The 80’s marked the company’s start to voyage on bigger seas for on

these years more cargo ships were acquired to be able to give more
service to the public. Aleson also had voyages to Singapore and back for trade and commerce purposes during this period.

During the 90’s the company concentrated on the passenger/ro-ro sector.

Additional vessels were added to cater more passengers and travel on
more routes. As 1994 dawned, a pioneering route between Zamboanga Port
and Sandakan Port, Malaysia was opened. This event made improvement in
terms of goods mobility and comfortability and convenience amongst
passengers.Aleson’s MV Danica Joy 1 was one of the pioneering vessels that sailed in this route.

In 1999, the company expanded into containerizing cargoes, thus the

addition of new con-carriers. The first fast craft of the corporation
was bought on 2004 and was named MV Seajet.

At present, Aleson operates a fleet of 25 vessels and has become the dominant shipping operator in Western Mindanao.
